Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche was a multifaceted German thinker whose impact on modern philosophy and culture is significant. Initially a classical philologist, he became the youngest Chair of Classical Philology at the University of Basel at just 24. Despite struggling with health issues that forced his resignation in 1879, he produced influential writings in the following decade. His life took a tragic turn in 1889 with a mental collapse, leading to years of care from his family until his death in 1900.
