Offers a detailed account of the basal ganglia (or homolog) in representatives of each major group of nonmammalian vertebrates as well as in mammals. Presents reviews of the anatomical and functional organization of the core structures of the basal ganglia, and the relationship between the basal ganglia and limbic structure.
