In 1897 gold is discovered in the Yukon, and thousands swarm to the north. For Liza Peterson's family, it's a chance to make a fortune by moving their general store to Dawson City, the only established town in the Yukon. For Constable Ben Turner of the North-West Mounted Police, it's an opportunity to escape a dark past and become the man of integrity he wants to be. But on the journey, as Liza's family nears the mountain's peak, a fatal catastrophe strikes and not even the NWMP can help.
