Validation of a Regional Distribution Model in Environmental Risk Assessment of Substances

Focusing on the environmental impact of chemical substances, this dissertation explores the relationship between exposure levels and toxicological responses, defining risk as a function of potential damage and its likelihood. It emphasizes the importance of assessing environmental concentrations, referencing foundational concepts like the Unit World by D. Mackay and multimedia modeling approaches endorsed by ECETOC. The work highlights the necessity of risk assessments for both new and existing chemicals within the European Union, underscoring the dual aspects of toxicology and environmental concentration in evaluating chemical hazards.
