Set in 1887 during the peak of anti-polygamy sentiment in the US, the story follows Rachel O'Brien Rockwood, who shares her stepfather J. D.'s passion for hunting down criminals. When two federal deputies investigating Mormon polygamists are murdered in the small village of Centre, west of Salt Lake City, Rachel seizes the opportunity to join the investigation, diving into a world of danger and intrigue.
