Exploring the dynamics of pastoral friendships, this study highlights their influence on ministry effectiveness and personal well-being. It addresses the tension between self-disclosure and the expectations of pastoral roles, presenting insights from interviews with ten congregational pastors. Through qualitative analysis, the research identifies four distinct types of friendships that help pastors manage their vulnerabilities while fulfilling their responsibilities. This examination sheds light on the complexities of maintaining meaningful relationships within and outside the church community.
