Set against the backdrop of the Great Depression in 1935, the narrative follows Ken Morris as he embarks on a challenging journey as a door-to-door salesman. His struggles lead him to a job at Briggs Manufacturing Company in Detroit, where he faces the harsh realities of the auto industry. Unbeknownst to him, this experience sets the stage for his pivotal role in the formation of the United Automobile Workers, a groundbreaking and socially progressive labor union that would transform the landscape of labor rights.
