An Outline of the Scottish Economy in the Eighteenth Century

Focusing on the political and economic landscape of 18th-century Scotland, the paper examines key Scottish economists and their contributions. It analyzes the economic consequences of the 1707 parliamentary union and provides a sector-by-sector overview of the Scottish economy during this period. The influence of North American independence on Scottish foreign trade and trade routes is also discussed. Concluding observations highlight the findings and trace Scotland's economic developments up to the late 1970s.
