Set in the spring of 1760, a group of New Englanders, including Connecticut farmer Zadoc Bennet, emigrates to Nova Scotia to claim land taken from the Acadians. Motivated by the promise of free land and seeking relief from poverty and religious oppression, Zadoc aspires to create a peaceful life for his family in this new territory. The narrative explores themes of hope, resilience, and the challenges of starting anew in a foreign land.
