Exploring the picaresque novel's evolution in postcolonial literature, this study highlights its traditional themes of poverty while expanding the concept of precarity. It examines non-linear narratives, episodic storytelling, and the portrayal of unstable identities within the genre. Unlike other forms of postcolonial modernism, the picaresque critiques capitalism's paradoxes in the contexts of neo-imperialism and neoliberalism. The book analyzes works by notable authors like Salman Rushdie and V.S. Naipaul, with a particular focus on contemporary writers such as Aravind Adiga and Mohsin Hamid.
