The study explores the First Farewell Discourse of Jesus by examining its connections to the Old Testament and Early Judaism. It highlights the influence of Psalm 42/43, links themes of love for God and commandment-keeping to Deuteronomic covenant theology, and reflects on prophetic messages of eschatological salvation. By integrating elements from the Law, the Prophets, and the Writings, the discourse fosters Jewish-Christian dialogue. The English edition updates the original 1984 German text with a review of subsequent contributions and an expanded bibliography.
