Focusing on the Wasa Amenfi West district in Ghana, the author presents empirical data highlighting the critical need for clear customary land transactions. Since the 1920s, settler farmers have acquired extensive land, which has significantly benefited landowners and the local economy. However, the poorly defined nature of these transactions has adversely affected social institutions. The book explores ways to establish well-defined land transactions, emphasizing the potential benefits for all stakeholders and local development.
