Newton Booth Tarkington, an influential American novelist and dramatist, gained prominence in the early 20th century, celebrated for his works such as The Magnificent Ambersons and Alice Adams. He is notable for being one of only four authors to win the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction multiple times. While his legacy has faded in recent years, Tarkington played a pivotal role in Indiana's literary Golden Age alongside contemporaries like Meredith Nicholson and George Ade, with several of his stories also making their way to film adaptations.
