Higher Education, Social Class and Social Mobility

Focusing on the experiences of undergraduate students, this book examines the interplay between higher education, social class, and social mobility. It follows a cohort from Bristol's universities over three years, comparing middle-class and working-class students paired by university and subject. Through narrative data, the study highlights the challenges and opportunities within a stratified higher education system, assessing its role as a potential pathway for social mobility as students approach the labor market or further studies.
