Higher Education, Social Class and Social Mobility

Focusing on the experiences of undergraduate students, this book examines the interplay between higher education, social class, and social mobility. It follows a cohort from Bristol's universities over three years, comparing the journeys of middle-class and working-class students paired by university and subject. Through narrative data, the study situates these experiences within a hierarchical education system, exploring how higher education may serve as a means of social mobility for different class backgrounds.
