Allan Pinkerton, the first private detective, emigrated from Scotland to Chicago, where he uncovered a gang of counterfeiters. His early successes led to roles as deputy sheriff in Kane and Cook Counties. In 1852, he established the Pinkerton Detective Agency, which became renowned for its innovative investigative techniques. The agency's logo, featuring the All-Seeing Eye, gave rise to the term "Private Eye," symbolizing the agency's lasting impact on law enforcement and detective work.
