The story follows Antonio Zeppa, who finds himself at his lowest point after a tumultuous past marked by youthful follies and anger influenced by tyranny. Captured and in agony, he is comforted by Orley's mother, who understands the dire circumstances. The villagers view shipwrecked individuals not as victims but as prey. Amidst this grim backdrop, Antonio faces a fatal battle with a stoic resolve, while the captain's lost papers reveal the notorious history of Rosco the pirate, intertwining their fates in a tale of survival and despair.
