Engaging with financial services during conflict, this book uses Liberia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo as case studies to explore informal financial strategies and their evolution amid turmoil. It employs regression analyses and panel data modeling to reveal that conflict significantly influences the demand for credit and savings services, while having less impact on financial institutions' performance. The study emphasizes the crucial role of networks and family in shaping individual experiences and determining post-war outcomes.
