The book explores the varying impacts of economic integration based on country size, utilizing a classification system that reflects key economic characteristics. It examines how the formation of Preferential Trade Areas (PTAs) reduces trade costs and investigates whether these costs differ among countries of various sizes. Through econometric tools and general equilibrium analysis, the study assesses the asymmetric effects of PTA membership on trade flows, analyzing data from 218 countries, including 45 European nations, to estimate both past and potential impacts of integration.
