St Dennis lies in the centre of the Cornish peninsula overlooked by its church, once an Iron-Age fort, 665 feet above sea level. Tin recovery, china-clay mining and farming were integral to to the development of the village. With the decline of these industries people no longer work locally, creating a shift in the life of the community that once boasted an array of organisations from church and chapel, through sport, bands and choirs, to drama groups. Despite all this, villagers still enjoy a strong sense of belonging. This book also tells the history of Goss Moor, which lies in the parishes of Roche, St Dennis and St Columb. This is another book in the Halsgrove Parish History series, reminding us of the people and places that have made our communities what they are today - celebrating the past and providing a stepping stone to the future.
