Díky jejich bohatým zkušenostem si čtenář naplno užije, jak precizně dokážou propojit jednotlivé zápletky a pracovat s motivy, které budují napříč celou sérií. A to se týká všech postav bez výjimky. Jen málokterá krimi série dokáže udržet konzistentní a promyšlený vývoj u tak početného týmu, jako je zdejší pětice hlavních postav. Hjorth a Rosenfeldt se nebojí sáhnout do jejich životů tvrdě a bez sentimentu. I to je jeden z důvodů, proč se vyplatí číst sérii v pořadí, v jakém vyšla.
