The Robe

The narrative follows Marcellus Gallio, a Roman tribune who wins Jesus Christ's robe after the crucifixion, exploring themes of faith, redemption, and spiritual longing. Haunted by his role in Jesus' death, Marcellus experiences a transformation influenced by the robe's perceived power. Accompanied by his Greek slave Demetrius, he journeys through Judea, meeting those whose lives were touched by Jesus. Ultimately, both characters embrace Christianity, leading to Marcellus's confrontation with Emperor Tiberius in Rome and a pivotal choice regarding his beliefs and loyalty.
