"So, what brings you here today Mr. Cronin?" "Um. My wife thought I should come." So begins Simon Butler's first conversation with his therapist, Dr. Shah. Simon had always felt a sense of abandonment since he was left unnamed in the hospital for several days by his mother. The youngest of six children he had always felt left out. When he can finally leave the loveless family unit for his adult life he finds himself married to Vicki, a bipolar alcoholic. It is left to Simon to raise his surviving son, Julian, almost single handedly until he leaves for university. This is the point Simon is determined to divorce his troubled wife and try to find a peaceful and happy life for himself. Will he find happiness at last with the new woman in his life or will he never be free of Vicki?
