The point of the Elbe-Weser Triangle is shaped by the estuaries of the two eponymous rivers and very rich in archaeological sites of which, until now, mainly the important settlement excavations were generally known. This volume now presents an extensive catalogue of many hundreds of cremations that have been discovered since the 18th century and are stored in museums at Bederkesa, Bremerhaven, Cuxhaven, Stade, Hamburg-Harburg, Hannover, and Hildesheim. The major find category is pottery objects, predominantly cremation urns decorated with grooves, fluting or protrusions and made of brown clay, but also miniature vessels, Samian ware, and spindle whorls. There are also metal items consisting of iron, bronze, silver, and gold, such as vessels, spearheads, knives, razors, shears, tweezers, various small objects, keys, rings, buckles, and fibulae, as well as bone objects, e. g. combs, needle boxes, and dice. Glass beads, glass drip, and seashells are attested, too. Beside this, resin, a wooden bowl, cereal impressions, plant pips, textiles, inhumations, post pits, and windthrows have also been documented.
