The peace treaty put forth by the Bohemian King George of Pod? brady (1458–1471) introduces a pan-European project calling for a league of peace. By doing so it searches for an alternative to the medieval ordo (respublica christiana) and sows the seeds for the coming secularized order of Europe and the future birth of the international law. The peace treaty unites two aspects. On the one hand it is an alliance for the purpose of combating the Turks, while on the other hand it serves as the foundation for the league of peace whose structure of inter-european relations relies on an oath created corporation. The uniquenes of this project is that instead of creating something completely new, it merges and mixes legal features and traditions already in existence at the time of its drafting. Of equal importance, this peace treaty provides an outstanding example of the medieval legal pluralism.
