A model driven approach for service based system design using interaction templates

Viac o knihe

As modern avionics become increasingly complex, system design processes are shifting towards Model Driven Architecture (MDA) to enhance modularity and autonomy in mission systems. However, current approaches to modeling service component interactions are limited by a fixed set of communication primitives, restricting designers’ ability to specify interactions effectively. This limitation forces developers to embed interaction patterns into application code, complicating the separation of application and communication logic. Additionally, when service functionality depends on unsupported communication semantics, further emulation is required, exacerbating the issue and reducing platform independence. To address these challenges, a new model-driven service development process is proposed, centered around Interaction Templates (ITs), which elevate service interactions to first-class modeling entities. This approach allows for explicit specification of interaction semantics in models, enhancing platform independence. The process utilizes automated Model-to-Model (M2M) and Model-to-Text (M2T) transformations to streamline service implementation and facilitate interaction realizations across various target platforms. By relying solely on ITs rather than platform-specific primitives, services can achieve greater flexibility and independence. Additionally, a Unified Modeling Language (UML) profile, known as UML Profile for Interacti
