Andrea Faciu, Träume und Komplizen, dreams and accomplices

Viac o knihe

Andrea Faciu, born in 1977 in Bucharest and now residing in Munich and Berlin, creates immersive installations using video and sound, exploring the theme of language in playful and poetic ways. After winning the Villa Romana Prize in 2007, she showcased her work at the 53rd Venice Biennale in the Romanian Pavilion. In conjunction with her dual exhibition 'Dreams and Accomplices' at Kunstverein Braunschweig and Raum Junge Kunst Wolfsburg, she is publishing her first monographic catalogue. The installations, as suggested by the title, delve into dreamlike states and aim to reconstruct the mechanisms of memory. One installation is set in a brightly lit space, while the other is enveloped in a dusky cocoon, guiding visitors into a liminal realm where the distinction between reality and memory blurs. In Braunschweig, large felt panels serve a dual purpose: they darken the space and encase the filmic presentation of minimalist sound cascades and explosions, evoking thoughts of artists like Robert Morris and Joseph Beuys. Through these installations, Faciu invites reflection on the interplay between dreams and waking life.
