Welcome to the proceedings of the 2010 International Conferences on Grid and Distributed Computing (GDC 2010) and Control and Automation (CA 2010), part of the Second International Mega-Conference on Future Generation Information Technology (FGIT 2010). These conferences unite researchers from academia and industry to exchange ideas and solutions related to high-performance and compound control systems, emphasizing their connections to computational sciences, mathematics, and information technology. A total of 1,630 papers were submitted to FGIT 2010 from 30 countries, including 198 for GDC/CA 2010. After a rigorous review, 395 papers were accepted for FGIT 2010, with 40 accepted for GDC/CA 2010. Of these, 8 were chosen for a special volume published by Springer in the LNCS series. This volume includes 28 papers, with 4 withdrawn due to technical issues. We extend our gratitude to the GDC/CA 2010 International Advisory Boards and the International Program Committees, as well as to all organizations and individuals who supported the publication of these proceedings, including SERSC and Springer.
