The treatment of autistic individuals is always a challenge for everyone involved. Many important aspects of therapy are described in this book and illustrated with examples from the author's own experience as a patient - able to report from both sides. This volume thus closes the gap between the specialist literature, on the one hand, and reports on their experiences by those affected on the other. The book has been updated and expanded for this new edition. Greater emphasis has been given in particular to the chapter on 'Crisis Situations', and a section on 'gender-specific counselling' has been newly added. Inclusive education for everyone is discussed in the chapter on 'School'. Providing explanations and information can make it possible to achieve the goal that autistic individuals no longer need to hide their difference; instead, difference can become a beneficial and enriching contribution to society.
