Die Schwingen des Kranichs

Viac o knihe

The corporate image of Deutsche Lufthansa, established nearly 45 years ago, was crafted by Otl Aicher, a key figure from the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Ulm. Aicher's influence extended beyond Lufthansa, notably with the 1972 corporate identity for Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen and the memorable design for the Munich Olympic Games. His work set a standard for a cohesive corporate image, integrating elements such as house colors, logos, typography, photographic style, and architectural characteristics. Aicher's vision drew inspiration from the Deutscher Werkbund and encompassed the airline's entire visual identity. Alongside Aicher, numerous designers and agencies contributed to Lufthansa's image, including Otto Firle, whose crane logo became iconic, and firms like frog design, Priestman & Goode, and many others. The book is complemented by an exhibition at the Museum für Angewandte Kunst in Frankfurt, which explores similar themes. Volker Fischer, an esteemed architecture and design historian, has played a significant role in the museum's design department and teaches at the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Offenbach. His previous works include publications on notable architects and projects, showcasing his expertise in the field.
