Pearl: A Graphic Novel

Set against the backdrop of World War II, the story follows a thirteen-year-old Japanese-American girl navigating her identity and loyalties after being stranded in Hiroshima when her great-grandmother falls ill. As tensions rise following the attack on Pearl Harbor, she is forced to translate for the Japanese army, grappling with fears for her family and the threat of internment camps. Amidst these challenges, she forms a deep friendship and begins to see Japan as a place she could call home.
