Focusing on the evolution of visual arts in Cameroon during the late 20th century, this case study highlights key actors and discourses that influenced artistic practices. It traces the development from the "Système de Grands Frères" in the 1970s to the rise of small artists' initiatives in response to the NGO-driven social practice art scene of the 2000s. Through archival research and interviews with practitioners in Douala and Yaoundé, it offers valuable insights into Cameroon’s dynamic art landscape amidst limited state support.
