The Musi River's journey through Hyderabad is marked by its transformation from a drinking water source upstream to a recipient of wastewater in the city, ultimately serving agricultural needs downstream. The study area features peri-urban systems where built environments and irrigated lands coexist. With a semi-arid climate, the region experiences an average annual rainfall of 750 mm, primarily during the monsoon from June to October, while summer temperatures can soar to 47 °C.
