Hydrogen as Option to Decarbonize Road Transport

Focusing on the potential of hydrogen as a decarbonization solution for heavy transport, this thesis conducts a systematic literature review to address existing research gaps. It evaluates the feasibility of hydrogen from technical, environmental, and economic perspectives, aiming to synthesize scattered literature into coherent knowledge. The findings suggest that while hydrogen may not universally serve as a decarbonization option, it could significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions under specific conditions, particularly benefiting heavy-duty road transport due to its range advantages.
