Daniel Defoe, born around 1660, was a multifaceted figure known for his influential novels, journalism, and pamphleteering. His works, particularly Robinson Crusoe, have achieved remarkable global reach, second only to the Bible in translations. A pioneer of the novel and economic journalism, Defoe's prolific output spanned various subjects, including politics and psychology.
