Nutrition in Sengerema Mwanza. Food Preparations and Feeding Practices for Children in Relation to Malnutrition among Mothers

Focusing on childhood nutrition in Tanzania, the research highlights critical issues of both overnutrition and undernutrition among children under five. According to the 2018 Tanzania National Nutrition Survey, stunting rates decreased from 34.7% in 2014 to 31.8%, yet acute malnutrition rose from 440,000 to 530,000 children. The prevalence of underweight children increased from 13.4% to 14.6%, while 2.8% of children are overweight, predominantly in urban areas, underscoring significant public health challenges.
