The Country Attorney

Set against the backdrop of 1777 Yorkshire, the story follows young attorney John Eagle as he navigates the complexities of his new career under the grumpy Abraham Balme. Aligning himself with the mistreated clerk Tom Gill and maid Sukey, John becomes embroiled in interconnected cases, including the suspicious drowning of his friend, Richard Hudson. His investigation leads him to the menacing Long Larkin, who engages in illegal activities amid the turmoil of the American War of Independence, challenging John's moral compass and professional resolve.
