Judicial Decision Making, Sentencing Policy, and Numerical Guidance

Judicial decision-making, particularly in sentencing, is often complex and subjective. This study presents a novel approach to enhance the precision of sentencing policies by introducing a conceptual framework and empirical techniques. It aims to help judges evaluate the seriousness of cases based on their specific facts and determine appropriate sentences accordingly. The model's validity is rigorously tested through an archival study, establishing it as a significant prototype for providing numerical guidance to judges and improving sentencing consistency.
