The Museum Brandhorst houses one of the most important collections of contemporary art. It includes a number of works by Cy Twombly, Joseph Beuys, Andy Warhol, Alex Katz, Bruce Nauman, Damien Hirst and other prominent artists. Since 2009, the Udo and Anette Brandhorst Collection has been on public display in the sepctacular building designed by Sauerbruch Hutton, which constitutes the centrepiece of the Kunstareal museum complex in Munich with the Pinakothek museums. The publication presents high-quality colour illustrations of outstanding works of art. Introductory chapters focus on individual artists and explain various artistic movements such as Arte Povera, Pop Art, Minimal Art and Conceptual Art, as well as photography and new media. In addition, the reader is provided with concise details about the individual works. This volume provides both a knowledgeable and highly readable general overview of this unique collection.
