Viac o knihe

The book is dedicated to Stefan Allerbauer for his 85th birthday and is part of a series of four volumes on the March-Thaya Triangle some 60 km north-east of Vienna. A first volume “Coins of the Celtic and Romano-Germanic period” has already been published, and texts on the fibulae of the later Roman Imperial period and the Early Middle Ages and other types of small finds are in preparation. The present study contains information on the author, and introduction and acknowledgements, two forewords, and two main chapters, one on the research area in historical and Romano-Germanic times including maps and one on the presented 488 brooches mainly made from non-ferrous metals. A section with general information on find sites, typology, chronology, and cultural influences in fibulae is followed by a detailed discussion of each individual type of brooch starting in the Late Bronze Age. The volume ends with descriptions of each find spot including find circumstances, depositories, principles of classification, and descriptions. An appendix contains data on historical settlements and recovered objects, concordances, abbreviations, a bibliography, and credits for pictures and maps.
