Viac o knihe

This volume contains an inventory of archaeological finds and features from the German-Dutch border region of Reiderland on the basis of systematic field walking by the author and the compilation and publication of old find material in the local museum Rheiderland at Weener and many private collections. It has been organised by epochs in chronological order and offers information on pottery vessels, objects made of stone, metal, bone, and glass, technical pottery, settlements with buildings and burials, and an overview of the entire find material for each period. For the Middle Ages there are separate sections on the important marsh settlements at Pogum, Hatzum, Jemgum, Hatzum-Alte Boomborg and the cemetery at Oldendorp-Klunderborg. The [re]processing of the complex offers more, however, than a mere presentation of isolated outstanding finds: The concise and consequent account of their embedding into an overall framework allows the reader to follow the occupation and cultural history of Eastern Frisia almost continuously from the Mesolithic to the Early Middle Ages. The book ends with a catalogue of 198 find sites including a comprehensive register.
