Ivana Spinelli, global sisters - the contradictions of love

Could there be, nowadays, any links between pin-up poses, war, terrorism and love? In the book “Global Sisters” you can not find an answer to this question; you can only find the question. The artist selected ink-drawings that she realized along the years, attempting to create paradoxical but likely atmospheres for bodies imploring to receive a glance, to find a shape while educating themselves to self-destruction. In this work the artist decided not to complete the drawings with critical texts presenting a social or political perspective. They are open to several interpretations that are closer to a poetical view of reality where tragedy, the sublime, pop or trash can be embodied by the same poor flesh.
