Insensitive energetic materials

Energetic Materials are thermodynamically unstable but kinetics are sufficient slow that a variety of high energetic materials can be handled safely at ambient conditions. The ease of undergoing a violent reaction or detonation is called sensitivity. In the solid state, particularly, interactions and structural aspects of molecules, crystals and particles determine the mechanisms of decomposition and the sensitivity. Besides, processing, and embedding particles into a polymer matrix as well as ageing are complex processes that influence structural properties. The book includes 29 contributions of a sysmposium with same title, held at the Fraunhofer ICT in Pfinztal, Germany, in March 2007. It provides a detailed knowledge about the aspects mentioned above, and thus a basis for tailoring of insensitive energetic products.
