On the move to meaningful internet systems 2003: CoopIS, DOA, and ODBASE

The 2002 edition in Irvine aimed to foster cross-pollination among missions through a program featuring renowned keynote speakers, including Sycara, Soley, and Mylopoulos. To encourage broader participation, authors were granted free access to another conference or workshop of their choice. This year, we received an impressive total of 360 submissions for the three conferences and 170 for the workshops, surpassing last year's numbers. This influx allowed the program committees to curate a high-quality representation of global research in the relevant fields. Despite the increased submissions, the Program Chairs opted to maintain a similar acceptance rate as in 2002, accepting about 1 in 4–5 papers for the main conferences, while workshops had a higher acceptance rate of approximately 1 in 2. Consequently, we decided to publish the proceedings in two separate volumes, thanks to the collaboration with Springer-Verlag. The review process was thorough and professional, with each main conference paper evaluated by at least three referees, ensuring a rigorous selection of high-quality contributions.
