Exile and displacement

Twelve English-language and two German-language autobiographical essays reflect on the emigration experiences of Jews fleeing the Nazi regime. In addition to presenting a personalized history of the period, the essays also highlight the shared experiences and common problems faced by refugees. The process of "Americanization" is emphasized.
