Putting the 'Art' in the new Iranian art cinema

In discussing the developing phenomenon of Iranian cinematically loaded semiosphere in an inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary fashion, a variety of disciplines and theoretical approaches such as globalization, digitalization, sociology, cultural studies, semiotics, philosophy and media studies would inform the debate. The project tries to explain the general nature of what happens when cinematic images and cinematic concepts current in Iranian society change. Since no theory of art cinema in its relation to conceptual evolution has yet been developed, it is hoped that through the interdisciplinary/multidisciplinary approach taken in this project, the way could be paved for developing a full-fledged theory for studying the interaction between Iranian new wave cinema and the cultural evolutions. This may be more convincing if I briefly outline the general content and the strategy of the project. While the term of art cinema is the subject to different readings, I worked out the details of the very broad reading of Iranian art cinema as the main concomitant of the difficult process of secularisation in Iranian society. At the same time I deal with a very narrow reading that might lead us to consider the neglected aspect of Iranian art cinema as a kind of aletheia.
